ATLANTA — Super heroes and villains are taking over downtown Atlanta as Dragon Con gets underway.
It’s just one of several big events that Atlanta police say with bring some 700,000 people into downtown throughout the weekend.
Dragon Con organizers told Channel 2's Berndt Petersen the super hero blockbusters being filmed in Georgia are giving the convention an even bigger boost.
Black Panther, The Avengers and Captain America are just some to the movies shot across here in Georgia. Organizers say people who love those films are all part of the massive crowd.

“I think it's great. First of all, it's about time Spider-Man got a really good debut," a man dressed as Spider-Man told Petersen.
Dragon Con is in its 32nd year and continues to grow. Organizers told Petersen they expect more than 82,000 to attend this year.
The popularity of the superhero blockbusters hitting the big screen could be a factor for that growth.

"So many of our Dragon Con attendees who have been coming for years are making props and costumes for those Marvel movies. So, many people who enjoy those films are coming to Dragon Con and that explains a little bit of our growth," Dragon Con director Dan Carroll told Petersen.
Not only are the marvel films shot in Georgia, but so are some of the DC Comic hero movies, which could explain why so many Wonder Women were at the event.
"There have always been fierce women out there. Now we can fulfill that by coming here and showing what women power is all about. Wonder Woman,” said a woman dressed as Wonder Woman.

Organizers insist Dragon Con isn't just for nerds anymore; it's for everybody who may or may not have a secret identity.
“It's done a lot to increase awareness in the general public. Not just us comic shop guys," a man dressed as Batman told Petersen.
The annual Dragon Con parade is Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Linden Avenue.
