DOUGLAS COUNTY,Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into a Thursday morning shooting near Douglasville that involved Sheriff’s deputies and left a suspected robber dead.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a burglary in progress call at Redline Performance Group on Fairburn road just after 9:40 a.m.
They said deputies responding to the call encountered a suspect fitting the description provided to them by the person who phoned it in. The deputies say the suspect ran from the scene when they showed up.
At some point during the pursuit, the deputies say they caught up to the suspect, who tried to assault them with an unidentified weapon. The deputies then allegedly shot the suspect, killing him on the scene.

The suspect has not been named or identified at this time and according to investigators, the deputies were not injured.
The GBI and Douglas County District Attorney’s office are investigating the incident to determine a timeline of what happened.
