DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has identified two teens who were shot during a ‘Sweet 16′ birthday party over the weekend.

Deputies said two teens were killed and six were injured when someone opened fire on a group of more than 100 teenagers at a party at a home on Talkeetna Road around 11p.m. Saturday.

On Monday afternoon, deputies identified the teens as 15-year-old Samuel Moon and 14-year-old Ajanaye Hill.

Moon was a sophomore at Lithia Springs High School. Hill was a freshman at Douglas County High School.

In a GoFundMe set up to support Hill’s family, the teen was described as someone who loved to sing, dance and create TikTok videos. Family members said she wanted to study to become an attorney.

Channel 2′s Tom Jones was in Douglasville Monday, where he spoke to Hill’s family, who said the teen had so much life ahead of her. Her sister, Ayanna White, said she remembers when her mother brought Ajanaye and her twin brother home.

“I just held her, and can never do that again. I went from changing her diapers, and now we’re planning a funeral,” Ayanna White said.

Her twin brother, Ahmed Hill, said he can’t believe she’s gone.

“You just never really think it would be her, even at a party,” he said.

Chanell White said she dropped her daughter off at the party and then hung around for several minutes to make sure everything was ok. She said nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

“She was just out trying to have a good time with her friends,” Chanell White said. “Everybody looked like they was having a good time.”

The party’s organizer said she ended it because some teens were smoking marijuana. About 100 kids were outside when shots rang out.

Douglas County sheriff Tim Pounds vowed to catch the shooter or shooters.

“It’s just a matter of time,” Pounds said. “I’m going to catch them. It’s just gonna take me a while to do it. But I’m gonna catch ‘em.

Chanell White said her daughter loved to dance, party and make TikTok videos.

“I need justice for my child,” White said.

The sheriff and district attorney are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Detectives have interviewed more than 80 witnesses, but they said so many left the scene and they need to hear from more people.

There is a $20K award for information leading to an arrest and prosecution in the case.
