DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Douglas County residents are outraged by a foul smell they believe is raw sewage spilling into their backyards and the creek that flows through their neighborhood.

Boulder Park Estates residents in Lithia Springs called Channel 2 Action News to bring attention to a potential health hazard as their frustration with local agencies heightens.

"Going door to door. Something going on over here? What's going on?" homeowner Catina Williams asked.

No one seems to know what is happening, but the air has been foul for months, according to neighbors.

"I don't think it's right," homeowner Zenna Disharoon said.

Neighbors told Channel 2 Action News the filthy water filling the creek could impact children in the area.

"They play basketball. The ball goes into the creek, they have to go in. The animals are running in the creek," Williams said.

Neighbors said they were getting the runaround from the county and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Disharoon said she called different agencies for help, but told us the Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority pointed her to the EPA who she said pointed back to the water and sewer authority.

The water and sewer authority told Channel 2 Action News they could not find the source and believe it could be run-off from an individual's septic tank and not from county lines.

Regardless, the community is desperate for a fix.

"I just want it corrected. I want to be able to get out in my yard," Disharoon said.

Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority confirmed the company will send someone out to test the water.
