LaGrange officials said when officers found the dog, it had a large laceration on the neck, possibly for a collar or chain. The dog’s head was reportedly swollen and it had other injuries that resulted in maggot infestation.
Police immediately took the dog to a local veterinarian. Once doctors examined the animal, they determined it could not be saved and had to be euthanized.
