DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A review of DeKalb County Schools payroll records finds the district overpaid several people almost $50,000.
The records review was ordered by new superintendent Cheryl Atkinson, who said she wants the public to know everything is accurate and up to date.
Research also found overpayments of $47,500 to two former employees, and five who were on leave.
The district's legal department plans to try to recover the unearned payments.
