Traffic stop turns into $1.9 million marijuana find

DORAVILLE, Ga. — Police say a wrong-way driver led them to a major drug bust in DeKalb County.

A truck was driving the wrong way on Monday night and didn't stop at a stop sign on Buena Vista Avenue and Chestnut Drive, Doraville police say.

Officers stopped the driver, Alejandro Perez, who told them that he did not have a driver's license.

In total, police say 169 bundles of marijuana were found with an estimated weight of 4,000 pounds.

Perez was taken into custody and while searching his truck, officers say they found numerous bundles of marijuana.

Doraville police say the marijuana had a street value worth between $1.6 and $1.9 million.

Perez is charged with trafficking marijuana.
