DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are trying to figure out where a local reality star's mother was for 15 hours during an intense investigation into her disappearance.
Channel 2's Liz Artz was first to report the 56-year-old grandmother was found safe. She talked to police minutes after the woman was located.
While police had the woman's family inside police headquarters, they say Kimberly Moore turned up at her own home in Cobb County, nearly 15 hours after she disappeared from her daughter's DeKalb County house.
Overnight Thursday, DeKalb detectives frantically searched for Moore.
“It's still an active investigation; they're still treating this as a possible kidnapping," Shiera Campbell of the DeKalb County Police Department told Artz.
Police said her daughter came home Wednesday night to find the back door of her Maplewood Drive home kicked in.
The house, police say, had been ransacked.
“The vehicle was at her daughter's home along with personal effects. They don’t know how she returned home. We are talking to her and family right now,” Campbell said.
Neighbors told Artz they did see a black pickup truck circling the home an hour before Moore was reported missing. It's a tip police are looking into.
“Noticed the truck and thought it was unusual but didn’t put anything together until this happened," neighbor Saundra Jackson told Artz.
Moore's daughter, Che Mack, is a bit player on the reality show Love and Hip-Hop. Artz spoke to her shortly after her mom disappeared.
“She wasn't there, you know? And like I said, we want a safe return for my mom," Mack told Artz.
Police say the 56-year-old was found unharmed at her Cobb County home in Austell nearly 15-hours after she was reported missing.
