Man shot by DeKalb County officer responding to call at apartment complex

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is on the scene of a shooting involving a DeKalb County police officer.

The shooting happened overnight at the East Ponce Village apartments on Wood Bend Drive. A Channel 2 photographer was on the scene early Monday morning as crime scene tape went up in the complex.

Investigators told Channel 2’s Darryn Moore that the officer was responding to a call at the complex when the officer saw a man with a gun unrelated to the call.

The two then got into a confrontation, during which the officer shot the man. The officer was not hurt.

Investigators told Moore that the man is expected to survive.
