Surrounded by a rainbow of colors and flowers, the artwork conveys a message of hope, possibility and unity. City progress updates showing the work were among the most-viewed images on Stone Mountain’s Facebook page over a two-week period as community residents offered praise for the project.
An official unveiling and dedication ceremony featuring Hamidullah and city officials is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Stoned Pizza Kitchen site.

Hamidullah explained the inspiration behind the mural’s message of unity and common purpose.
“Peace lives here along with a common love,” she said. “It kept replaying in my mind that no matter what we came from or why we came, somehow, we met here in the middle for a greater purpose. I am proud of that message.”
Mayor Jelani Linder said public artwork helps reflecting the community’s identity and future goals.
“Public art like this personifies Stone Mountain because it enhances the spirit of our community and speaks to what we are about and where we are going,” Linder said. “This mural captures our efforts to look toward the horizon as we come together to make this a premier city for residents and visitors alike.”
