DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are searching for the person who killed a mother with her 2-year-old daughter in the back seat of her car earlier this month.
The medical examiner told Channel 2 Action News that Tamika Trimble, 33, was shot to death on Dec. 4 on Terry Mill Road in DeKalb County. Detectives said the killer fired shots at Trimble from two different locations while she was behind the wheel. Police said when the shooter caught up with Trimble, they fired more rounds.
Trimble's daughter, Legacy, is now in custody of the Division of Families and Children Services. We're told the child was unharmed during the incident.

Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes
, relatives said they believe the bullet was intended for Trimble's boyfriend.
Trimble's mother, Shelbra, told Fernandes her seven children keep asking, "When is Mommy coming home?"
The grandmother is struggling to hold the family together as they go into the holiday season heartbroken.
Police have not made any arrests in the case.
"I heard it’s a 17-year-old who shot my baby, and I say to you, please turn yourself in and tell what you know," Shelbra Trimble said.
Shelbra Trimble is trying to get custody of the children. She said she has no choice but to stay strong when she feels like her whole world is crumbling.
"Day by day, one step at a time. It’s hard. It is but I know I’m gonna be alright. It's hard," she said.
Trimble was on her way to her son's school for his birthday celebration.
