DECATUR, Ga. — Students at Decatur High School are going to have to start paying for their Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.
Until now, the district has paid for all students to take the tests, but the school’s principal says it is no longer feasible for the district to continue to pay.
The change goes into effect next school year.
Each AP exam costs $97 and each IB exam costs $119. Nearly 900 students took AP or IB tests last year, according to a message obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Last year, the exams cost the district almost $250,000.
The school’s principal said scholarships and payment plans will be available.
