DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Gunfire erupted outside a 24-hour laundromat early Friday, killing a newly promoted worker, Carlos Lemons.
DeKalb County police said they got a call of a person shot in parking lot outside the Coin Laundry on Columbia Drive at the Belvedere Plaza.
The 26-year-old father of two was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in front of the business.
Detectives said that the victim was the overnight manager and that he approached two men standing in front of the business acting suspiciously.
“There was some confrontation, we’re not sure what that was about,” police said.
Police say three people, armed with pistols, were caught on camera from multiple angles and detectives are currently going through that security footage, extracting additional information that could lead to arrests.
Investigators are not releasing the surveillance video for fear it may compromise their investigation.

Detectives said a couple of customers were inside and witnessed the shooting.
“We’re talking to witnesses to see if we can get any video from inside the location here,” police said.
Family members showed up visibly upset and grieving, and the victim's aunt had a message for witnesses. "A lot of people know who did it," she said. "If it was your loved one, you would speak out so, we need y'all to speak out."
Lemons aunt said that the family will not be intimidated, "We will not let this go away."
The owner told Moore off-camera the victim has a daughter and he hired him 3 months ago to manage the laundry mat.
Officials say the three gunman ran away on foot.
