DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A delivery driver is outraged after he said he was set up and carjacked in Decatur.
The driver, who did not want to be identified, said he was driving for New China Express in Decatur on Halloween night.
He said it was a normal night that turned violent once he was lured to the back of the East Perimeter Pointe Apartments on Treecrest Parkway.
“They could have pistol whipped me, they could have shot me, they could have done anything. Nobody was back there and this was 3:30 in the afternoon,” he said.
The victim said he was on the phone with a man who told him he was waiting on someone to bring him money for the order.
The victim said that out of nowhere, five to six men surrounded him, armed with guns, and carjacked him.
"I thought that it was lights out. I really thought that I looked death in the eye, but I didn't show fear and I think that's what saved me. I don't know where the courage came from," he said.
Police told Channel 2’s Carl Willis the detective has three persons of interest in the case.
The victim said he fears the danger is still out there until the robbers are caught. He says they may have been plotting on another victim.
"I don't want this to happen to anyone else,” he said. “Because they actually tried to use my card to get an Uber driver but the card was declined, thankfully, so they probably would have jacked that Uber driver as well."
