DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The DeKalb County Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that killed a woman early on Sunday morning.
The crash happened near the Lavista Road exit off of Interstate 285.
Police told Channel 2 Action News a woman was killed while trying to direct traffic away from a crash that happened earlier at the same scene.
After the victim was hit and killed, I-285 was shut down for hours on all lanes as emergency personnel and crews worked the scene.
Police said the driver of the vehicle that hit the woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway is now reopen and police are still investigating the crash’s circumstances.
Police have not shared the identity of the victim.
