DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 46-year-old convicted felon was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison without the possibility of parole for shooting a man who asked him for a dollar at a Lithonia gas station.
DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Gregory A. Adams handed down the sentence to Homer Wright on Aug. 11 following Wright’s jury conviction in July for the 2025 shooting of Jquante Lenon.
A jury found Wright guilty on July 22 of three counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Under Georgia law, Wright’s previous criminal history rendered him ineligible for parole.
The incident occurred on June 23, 2025, in the 6000 block of Hillandale Drive. Lenon approached Wright’s truck to ask for a dollar. When Wright refused, Lenon walked away and sat on a nearby curb.

Wright then drove his truck over to the curb, got out of the vehicle and took out a firearm and pistol-whipped Lenon in the head.
Lenon stood up and struck Wright in the face. Wright then shot Lenon in the left foot and drove away.
Surveillance video captured the altercation and shooting.
After the shooting, Lenon ran to his home, where a neighbor called 911. DeKalb County officers responded to the scene at about 10:46 p.m.
Police secured arrest warrants for Wright and arrested him on June 30, 2025.
Because Wright had prior convictions for two armed robberies and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Adams sentenced him under Georgia’s recidivist statute.
Assistant District Attorney Charlie Boyter prosecuted the case with assistance from Senior Assistant District Attorney Jordan Riser, District Attorney Investigator Keith Carter and Victim Advocate Marva Coward. DeKalb County Police Detective Clayton led the initial investigation.
