“Please be assured that all students and staff are safe,” DeKalb County School District said.

The students’ ages and identities were not disclosed, but the school district said they will “face appropriate legal and disciplinary consequences related to this incident.”

Channel 2 Action News reached out to the school district for further details, but the district spokesperson said additional information could not be released as the investigation is ongoing.

The full letter from the school’s principal to parents is below:

Clarkston HS Parents/Guardians,

I am writing to inform you that this afternoon, school staff and the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) Police responded to reports of two students with a weapon on campus. We immediately went into a school lockdown.

Please be assured that all students and staff are safe. The two students have been arrested and will face appropriate legal and disciplinary consequences related to this incident.

We commend the swift actions taken by our staff and DCSD Police in handling this situation promptly and professionally. As always, we encourage students and families to continue to use our highly effective practice of “See Something, Say Something” by telling a parent/guardian or staff member any time they suspect there may be an unsafe situation at school.

We thank you for your continued trust in our school and remain committed to keeping our students and staff safe. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the administrators at Clarkston High School.

As always, thank you for your understanding, support, and continued involvement in your child’s education and the Clarkston High School community.
