DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police say a 10-year-old girl and two adults were shot at an extended stay hotel along Memorial Drive after a gun battle broke out.

The shooting happened around 10:15 p.m. at the Home Extended Stay Hotel in the 4800 block of Memorial Drive.

Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach was outside the hotel, where police said an argument involving a big group of people led to a shootout.

All three are expected to survive.

The child and a woman were struck by stray rounds. One of the shooters, Arthur Brown, later showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Police said Brown, 29, was the primary aggressor and took out the gun. Brown is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and may face additional charges.

The other person involved has been identified but is not cooperating.

Gehlbach talked to Marianne Smith, who used to live at the motel and now stays down the street.

“Usually kids play all around here, riding their bikes, playing in the back,” Smith said. “I’ve heard shots a lot of places on Memorial Drive, but something over here every day really.”
