GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County woman near Dacula thought the bang outside her house was a car backfiring, but it was the sixth wreck to end in her front yard.
On Sept. 9, a car left Bailey Woods Road and ended up in the yard in front of the home that belongs to Tina Truman and her husband Howard.
“I came outside and saw it was a head-on collision with the tree,” she said.

It was the sixth crash over 21 years, the couple said. They watch the traffic on Bailey Woods Road from their front porch.
“They go to hit that curve, it’s like they lose control,” Tina Truman said.
The latest driver to lose control survived.
“Luckily this young lady, it hit on the passenger side because she wouldn’t have made it if it hit on the driver’s side,” Howard Truman said.
The county already lowered the speed limit from 40 to 35 mph and added chevron signs. Speed bumps would require a 25 mph limit, the Trumans said.

A speed feedback sign went up last week. Tina Truman said it slows drivers headed one way, but those coming the other way can’t see it in time.
“I think they should make it a permanent fixture,” Howard Truman said.
His wife would also like ridges along the edge lines. If nothing changes, the couple plans to petition the Board of Commissioners.
Tina Truman’s mother died on Cherokee Road in Athens, a country road she compares to her own.
“She was killed instantly, gone in two seconds, just because someone went over the line like they do here,” she said.
She said she shook the rest of the day after the latest wreck.
“I don’t want someone to lose their loved one like I did due to just negligence,” she said.
The county’s Department of Transportation said it’s also reviewing signage and other traffic calming measures.
