McNair gunman pleads guilty, sentenced to serve 20 years

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — McNair Elementary School gunman Michael Brandon Hill appeared in a DeKalb County courthouse Tuesday morning and pleaded guilty in the school shooting incident.

Hill is accused of walking into Ronald. E McNair Discovery Learning Academy on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 armed with multiple guns.

Hill was sentenced to 40 years in prison, with 20 to serve.

No students, faculty or law enforcement officers were injured in the ordeal.

Hill's brother told Channel 2 Action News that his brother suffers from mental illness and got into trouble with police as a teen.
