2 children hospitalized after DeKalb apartment fire

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Several families were displaced after a fire at an apartment complex in DeKalb County.

It happend on Peppertree Circle in Decatur at about 12 p.m. Sunday, according to fire officials.

Channel 2's Jessica Jaglois talked to a woman who said she jumped from her balcony to safety. She told Jaglois it was the scariest moment of her life.

Now she and her rommates are staying at a hotel. At least four families were displaced by the blaze.

A mother who did not want to be identified told Channel 2 Action News her 3-year-old and 10-year-old children were rushed to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

She said everything she owns is gone but she is lucky that no one was seriously injured in the fire, including her children.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
