Crash sends car through box truck

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga.,None — In an unusual turn of events, a car drove through the top of a box truck that rolled over in DeKalb County on Friday.

The accident happened at the intersection of Redan Road and South Indian Creek Drive in front of a Chevron gas station just before 3 p.m.

News Chopper 2 showed a yellow box truck on it’s side blocking two lanes. Police say the driver of the moving truck lost control making the turn when his load shifted and the truck flipped over. A gray PT Cruiser then drove through the roof of the box truck and was wedged inside.  A third vehicle was wedged up against the roof that peeled of the box truck.

Firefighters had blocked part of the intersection and at least two people were put on stretchers and loaded into ambulances, the helicopter showed. Authorities told Channel 2's Aaron Diamant that five people were injured.

Emergency crews also had to pick up 20 to 30 buckets of chemicals that spilled from the truck onto the road. The chemicals did not leak from their cannisters.
