ATLANTA — Police say a woman driving the wrong direction on Georgia 400 and the driver of a car she hit head-on both died in a Wednesday morning crash.
Investigators trying to determine why 24-year-old Frampere Ingle entered the expressway against traffic told Channel 2's Aaron Diamant that alcohol may have been a factor.
Ingle hit a car driven by 44-year-old Eric Hanks of Atlanta. Hanks died on Wednesday morning. A passenger in Ingle's car was listed in critical condition.
All lanes of Georgia Highway 400 northbound were shut down for hours while Atlanta police investigated the crash, but reopened shortly before 8 a.m. Ramps from Interstate 85 and Sidney Marcus Boulevard were also blocked at the time.
Ingle's mother posted a message on Facebook Wednesday night writing, "I miss you so much. I hope that all this was quick and you suffered no pain."
The post by Ingle's mother also mentioned her two children.
"I will speak to them often of you, how beautiful you were and how much you loved them. You were the best daughter anyone could ever have. I thank God for giving you to me, and I trust he will take good care of you til we meet again," Ingle's mother wrote.
Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said Ingle missed multiple warning signs when she entered the freeway.
"There are clearly signs posted saying do not enter or wrong way as you're getting on the freeway on both sides," Jones told Diamant.
Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri tried to contact Ingle's family but found no one at her home.
