Massive brush fire ignites in part of Coweta County hit by tornadoes

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A large piece of land in Coweta County caught fire Thursday evening, according to the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Officials say about 10 acres in Coweta County ignited in the wooded area that was hit by tornadoes last year.

Crews were able to get a helicopter and two planes over the fire to drop water onto it.

Local fire departments were also working to help protect any structures in the area. None have been damaged/

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
