COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A Coweta County school board member who attended the Jan. 6 rally in Washington DC will not face any action from the board.
Channel 2 Action News first told you about member Linda Menk weeks ago. More than 1,700 people signed a petition calling for her removal.
The petition said, “In addition to attending the protest, which, although questionable given her place on the Board of Education is within her rights as a citizen, she was also amid the people that stormed Capitol Hill and stood on the steps as one of the most sacred buildings in our republic were desecrated.”

Menk said she was not part of the riot and did not apologize for attending the rally.
After speaking with an outside attorney, superintendent Evan Horton said Tuesday night the Coweta school board has no power to remove a member elected by the public, especially when no laws were broken.
