MARIETTA, Ga.,None — Police said a couple found dead inside Marietta home is a case of murder-suicide.
Police told Channel 2's Ross Cavitt that 28-year-old Wilbur Karl South shot and killed 32-year-old Mary Ellen Cano, then turned the gun on himself after an ongoing domestic dispute.
Cano's concerned father led Marietta police to find the couple dead on Wednesday.
“It was a walk-in report. The father actually came into the lobby of the police department to report his daughter missing, because he hadn't heard from her in a while,” Marietta Police Officer David Baldwin said.
Baldwin said the man alerted police around 6 p.m. When officers went to check on Cano, her car was at her home on Springdale Drive, but she and her boyfriend were unresponsive.
“The two residents that live there, boyfriend and girlfriend, are the ones found deceased,” Baldwin said.
The couple was active in the local fighting community and had taken part in recent MMA events in metro Atlanta, according to the website Georgiafighters.com.
