Community fundraising for funeral of 3 boys killed in fire

A community came together to help raise money to bury three children who died in a house fire.

Channel 2 Action News was there as several motorcycle groups honored their lives and family members talked about three young boys who lost their lives.

As family members shared stories about three children ages 3, 4 and 10, who tragically lost their lives in a house fire, people in the crowd started to open their wallets.

Sunshine Lewis has voluntarily helped to bury close to 200 underprivileged children, teens and adults through the years. She says she does it in memory of her son who died.

Lewis said can't imagine what the family is going through when the three young boys died in the fire on misty valley road in early December.

“To lose three babies at one time is unimaginable,” she said.

There will be a fundraiser is at Harley Davidson in Morrow.

Channel 2 Action News also spoke to the father of the 10-year-old boy named Jarvis, who later died after trying to save his siblings.

“My son took it upon himself to go in there and try to save his brothers and not only had that, he saved four other children in there,” his father said.

Police charged the boys' mother, Rockell Coleman, with three counts of murder.

They say she left five children home alone.

Two of the five children survived the fatal fire. Their grandmother asked people to wait for all the facts to be revealed before judging Coleman.

“Their mother is good mother always has been and loves her kids dearly,” she said.

A celebration of Life Services will be held at Divine Faith Ministries, 9800 Tara Boulevard, Jonesboro, Ga. 30236 at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27. Viewing will take place on Friday, Dec. 26 from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. All three children will also Lie in State at the Church the morning of the Service from 10 to 11 a.m.
