COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 57-year-old woman is behind bars accused of murdering her husband outside their home three years ago.

The arrest of Sharon Poss, formerly Sharon Davidson, came as a relief to some and a shock to others.

Poss is charged with the murder of Frank Davidson at their home on Paul Samuel Road in Kennesaw in April 2013.

When officers arrived on the scene, they had little to go on.

"They found Mr. Frank Davidson deceased in his carport from an apparent gunshot wound," Cobb police spokesman Nathan McCreary said.

Davidson's violent death shook many in the quiet neighborhood where he lived for many years.

"It's just tragic. I don't understand it. He's a good man. I introduced him to his wife. He's a good man," said neighbor Ellen Gidding.

Following the deadly shooting, investigators combed the property for clues, and towed away a car. They also questioned the victim's wife. Years passed, then suddenly on Wednesday the case broke wide open.

"Facts and a thorough investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Ms. Poss and she was picked up in Cartersville, where she now resides," McCreary said.

Police would not reveal what led to the arrest nor a motive for the murder. Poss is charged with felony murder and aggravated assault with intent to murder. She is being held without bond in the Cobb County Detention Center.
