District officials just want drivers to slow down, especially in a school zone.
There are warning signs all around Osborne High School, and district officials want drivers to pay attention to them.
“It’s very upsetting because I have seen him doing his job, and I think he does his job very effective, so it’s really sad,” neighbor Odalis Vera said.
A crossing guard was hit by a driver along Windy Hill Road earlier this week in Cobb County.
“They fly by him all the time, that’s why he got hit. It’s never-stop,” said neighbor Valerie Terry. “Sad. Very sad.”
Terry said people need to slow down. “I mean, I had so many close calls with them, but I pray every day that when I come out my house, I pray I don’t get into an accident.”

The Cobb County School District sent Channel 2 a statement that says, in part:
“One of our dedicated crossing guards was hit by a car. Thankfully, the crossing guard is okay. We appreciate the fast response of our staff and first responders. We ask our community to slow down and stay vigilant when passing in or near school zones.”
“I’m very happy that he’s going to be back at work soon but hopefully people do take this into consideration and drive more carefully,” Vera said.
There are still a lot of questions surrounding the crash.
Channel 2 will keep you updated once more information becomes available about the driver and whether or not charges will be filed.
