COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Wildlife rangers caught a nearly 7-foot gator Tuesday in a local recreation area.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said the alligator has been seen regularly near houses along the Chattahoochee River.
People say they have seen the gator near the Cochran Shoals area for years, and will be sad to see it go.

"It was very large, very long. It stays back in the wetlands, so you really can't get to it, but with a good camera lens and a good pair of binoculars you get a nice view of it," Michelle Kopf said.
The alligator was taken south and released into a more appropriate habitat.
No one knows how the gator got to Georgia, but most people believe someone released it when it was much smaller.
