Marietta police issued a “shelter in place” notice after a fire near Marietta Middle School Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out at a home at the intersection of Polk and Hope streets around 5 a.m.

Marietta police called the fire a “dangerous situation” and asked people who lived in the surrounding areas to stay inside.

Roads were closed in the area.
Channel 2′s Darryn Moore learned that the family who lived in the home and their cat were able to get out safely.
