COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Marietta Fire Department escorted the body of fallen firefighter Ron Herens from a funeral home to a church for his visitation on Tuesday.
Herens, 23, was killed by a suspected drunk driver in a wreck while on vacation in Los Angeles.
Herens' body returned to Georgia from Los Angeles on Saturday.
The flight landed at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport at 8:21 a.m.
A procession left Hartsfield around 9 a.m. and traveled from the airport to the West Cobb Funeral Home.
The procession started around 3:30 p.m. and took Herens by his home before going to Trinity Chapel in Powder Springs.
The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Church, which is located at 4665 Macland Road in Powder Springs.
A celebration of Herens’ life was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Chapel where hundreds of firefighters, friends and family gathered to honor Herens life, his service and to say goodbye.
