COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A woman said a father of five went to buy shoes, but never came home.

Officers said Mezaio Pickett was shot and killed outside a Carrabba's in Cobb County.

The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. Monday in the restaurant's parking lot on Cumberland Boulevard.

Two groups met to complete an online deal, but the meeting ended in gunfire.

According to police, 22-year-old Vincent Brooks and 22-year-old Damien Scott were taken into custody on Wednesday.

"It was a senseless murder," the victim's girlfriend, Porchia Rivers said.

She said the victim thought the deal would be so routine, he almost took some of his children with him.

Rivers said Pickett arranged to buy the shoes, paid for them and when he got them, the seller came with a gun to try to get the shoes back.

"From my understanding, I was told he was trying to back away and telling them, 'Don't worry, you can take whatever.' (He) pleaded for his life and you still shot him," Rivers said.
