The plume of smoke was visible for miles.
Mims talked to Sonya David, who was at home when the fire broke out. Thankfully, her home was not damaged.
“I heard an explosion from my apartment,” Davis said. “I looked out the window and right away I could see a humongous cloud of black smoke.”
David said the explosion happened in a second-floor apartment, shooting flames through the third floor and the roof. Smoke smothered the parking lot.
“In less than two minutes, you couldn’t even see what was happening in front of you,” David said.
Diego Medero was walking around the complex when he saw the flames and smoke towering into the sky.
“You never expect anything like this to happen, especially in a neighborhood like this,” Medero said.”It could just happen out of nowhere.”
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
