COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Members of Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services joined community members Thursday for a remembrance walk honoring the 2,977 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The walk took place at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park as part of the Kiwanis Club of Marietta’s annual 9/11 Field of Flags.
The event honors those killed in the terrorist attacks, including the first responders who died while rushing to help others.
After the walk, volunteers placed flags throughout the field, with one flag representing each person who died on September 11.

Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services said the display serves as a reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those who lost their lives.
The Field of Flags will remain on display through September 19.
Officials encouraged the community to visit the display and take a moment to remember those who died and the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
