WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — Emergency personnel rescued an uninjured climber stranded on a cliff face on Mount Yonah on Tuesday evening. Crews deployed a drone and used a rope system to reach the location.

White County 911 received a call shortly after 7 p.m. on Tuesday from a climber who became trapped while free climbing the west face of Mount Yonah.
The individual was stuck on a 20-inch by 20-inch ledge approximately 260 feet up the mountain face, unable to move up or down safely.
Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including White County Fire Services, White County EMS, White County Emergency Management and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Emergency management personnel used an unmanned aircraft system to pinpoint the climber’s location on the mountain.
After locating the climber on the ledge, Firefighter Will Roper rappelled down the mountain face to reach the stranded individual.
Roper worked with emergency personnel operating a rope system from above to secure the climber and guide the person to safety.
Rescuers completed the operation approximately 42 minutes after arriving at the scene.
