CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton County police officer was taken to a hospital after getting injured in a crash Thursday. Less than an hour later, another crash happened in the same location.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. at Tara Boulevard and Rick Daly Boulevard. Police said Officer John Davis was getting treatment in an emergency room Thursday evening.
A police source told Channel 2’s Tom Jones that the officer was going in and out of consciousness after the crash and was rushed to Atlanta Medical Center.
Justin Musa was behind the wheel of the box truck when he collided with the officer’s car. He was not injured in the crash.
“It was pretty scary,” said Musa.
Musa said even though he had the green light and the officer hit him, he got a ticket.
“They’re saying I got a ticket for a running a red light,” said Musa.
Musa said he was going south on Tara Boulevard and the officer was on Rick Daly and pulled into the intersection and hit him.
While Jones was speaking to Musa, they heard a loud crash. Two other cars had suddenly collided at the intersection same intersection.
Jones rushed to help one driver involved who complained of back injuries.
“I don’t know how to explain this. If this is an act of God or something is going on with that light,” said Musa.
