ATHENS, Ga. — A University of Georgia student was seriously injured on Saturday night when she fell out of a window.
Athens police say a student was dancing on a couch near an open window on the eighth floor of the Rambler Athens on W. Broad Street.
That’s when they say she fell out of the window and landed on the pool deck.

Police say she is conscious and alert, but is seriously injured.
Her name has not been released.
Channel 2 Action News obtained a statement sent out by the apartment complex to residents. It reads:
Dear Residents,
We want to provide an update regarding the incident at our community last night. A resident fell from an open window and was transported by emergency medical services. We understand they are at the hospital for treatment.
We are working with authorities who are continuing to gather information surrounding what occurred. Our thoughts are with the resident and their family, and we ask that everyone respect their privacy during this time.
As a reminder, windows throughout the community are equipped with safety limiters. For your safety, please do not tamper with, remove or disengage these devices. If you have a concern with a window or safety limiter, please contact the management team for assistance.
