CLARKE COUNTY, Ga. — Athens-Clarke police are searching for two men accused of using a stolen truck to steal $100,000 from a bank’s ATM.
The theft happened around 2 a.m. Friday at the Georgia Federal Credit Union off Gaines School Road in Athens.

The bank told police there was at least $100,000 in the ATM. The value of the destroyed machine is estimated to be $150,000.
After the alarm went off, police arrived and found the ATM located in the drive-thru smashed open. The machine was missing four of its cash drawers.

Officers who responded found muddy tire tracks and shoe prints around the ATM. The bank’s security cameras captured the men using a gray Dodge Ram truck to rip open the machine.
The truck was found abandoned across the street on Maison Drive with both of its doors open and a chain used in the theft hanging from the back.
Police say they believe the two thieves left the scene in a light color sedan. The owner of the truck was contacted and said he reported it stolen the night before.
