ATLANTA — Now that one hour delivery for Amazon Prime one-hour delivery is available in Atlanta there are a few things you need to know.
Consumer adviser Clark Howard says the service is more about convenience than savings.
WSB producer Terah Boyd lives in the heart of the city and tried to order a few household items, but when she tried to find the one-hour delivery option on her computer she could not.
“I even typed in the search bar one-hour delivery,” Boyd said as she tried to find the option.
After a few minutes she realized that Amazon's Prime Now service only works for people who have the app downloaded to their phone.
Once she downloaded the app, she learned she was not eligible for the one-hour delivery service.
Turns out her ZIP code, which is located one block from downtown, isn’t in the one-hour delivery area.
“It was a little misleading, when I went in there I missed where it said the two-hour delivery. It just said we do deliver to your area,” said Boyd.
Howard says Amazon's two-hour delivery is free, and its one-hour delivery will cost you around $8.
Customers must select a two-hour delivery window to pick from. On the upside, two-hour delivery is free.
Since Amazon recently announced same-day delivery is free for Prime members on orders of $35 or more, that might be the better option.
You will also be given the option to leave a tip when you place your order.
The most important thing to remember is just because it's quick doesn't mean it's cheap.
