CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A boat has been destroyed after catching fire while docked in a Cherokee County marina.
Cherokee County Fire crews were called to the Harbor Town Marina on Lake Allatoona before 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Firefights were able to put out the blaze with the help of the fire boat from Bartow County Fire and Rescue.
A witness told 911 dispatchers that the boat was fully engulfed in flames, but no one was on board. They added that a small portion of the dock was also on fire.
Hazmat crews from Cherokee County also responded to make sure no damage was done to the lake.

Crews say the boat is a total loss and another boat that was nearby sustained some damage from the heat of the fire.
Fire officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
