CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police said firefighters found a man dead inside a house after they were called to fight a fire.
The victim was identified as 24-year-old Quincy Suggs.
Police there were several spots in the house on Redland Drive in Jonesboro where someone apparently tried to set it on fire.
“It seemed like it was a bad fire,” Elva Lee said.
She said she noticed the fire at the house just after noon Tuesday.
“When I came outside to look, the body was already in the grass,” she said.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide.
“It was obviously an attempt at burning the house down,” Maj. Joseph Woodall said. “Very suspicious circumstances. There were several different starting points for the fire within the home. Our victim had other injuries."
Police said they are investigating the Suggs' death as a homicide. They are not releasing details about his injuries or how he died.
Officers dispatched to the home took his body outside, but they said he was already dead.
A neighbor who did not want to be identified said the fire spread quickly and looked suspicious.
He said a woman and her pregnant daughter lived in the home.
“They pretty much stayed to themselves,” he said.
