Body found in Stone Mountain subdivision

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga.,None — DeKalb County police are investigating a homicide after a body was found in a Stone Mountain subdivision.

A man's body was found at the Mainstreet Park subdivision near the intersection of Mainstreet Park Drive and Martin Road on Sunday afternoon.

Homicide detectives said Monday morning that they expect to know more about the man later in the day, including his name, where he worked and who his friends were.

Investigators said the body was found by two fishermen on the bank of a nearby lake, where residents say is a popular place for families to spend time.

"People come here with their kids and look at the water and throw rocks in the water, so, it's very popular," resident Harold Lewis said Lewis said.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots in the area Sunday morning.

"We were walking by, we heard gunshots earlier. We saw cops over here. We came to see what was going on and we found out there was a dead body out there,"Lewis said.
