Police are investigating a body found on Lake Lanier.

Channel 2's Rachel Stockman was at the scene Sunday night as investigators from Hall and Gwinnett counties with flash lights surrounded a dock on Lake Lanier near Shadburn Ferry Road.

"It's horrible. It's something that you never want to go through," said Joyce Bagley.

Bagley said she was on the lake late Sunday afternoon when another fisherman flagged her down.

"Sure enough it was a body floating. I called the homeowner; I called 911 and told them I think there is a body here," Bagley said.

Investigators with Hall County are trying to piece together what happened. At this time, they can only confirm that the body that was found floating in the lake is that of a man.

"We are unable to tell at this time the age rage, but we can tell the subject has been in the water for quite some time," said Nicole Bailes with the Hall County Sheriff's office. "It doesn't appear this is the initial area where he was fallen in the area. It does look like he drifted. It's hard to tell."

Bagley said she cannot get the image out of her mind.

"(It's) the uncertainty of who it is. Maybe some closure to a family member. It's sad and shocking," Bagley said.
