Beltline attacker sentenced to 20 years in prison

ATLANTA — A man now admits going on a crime spree near the Atlanta Beltline trying to steal women's purses.

Quantavious Walker pleaded guilty to all charges Wednesday.

Police said video showed him near the northwest end of the Beltline after attacking a jogger last summer.

The jogger told Channel 2 Action News before the robbery, she noticed Walker trying to speak to her, but she ignored him and kept jogging. However, then she felt a tap on her shoulder.

“I turned around and he had a gun out,” the woman said. “I don’t even know if he even said anything. I just said, ‘What do you want?’”

She gave the gunman her phone and her pouch containing items such as money and her keys, the report said. After he ran off, she found someone who called 911 for her.

Police were able to recover her pouch and keys in a nearby bush, but her phone remains missing, the report said.

Two days before that attack police said Walker targeted two other people.

In exchange for his plea, Walker will serve 20 years in prison, followed by five years on probation.
