WATCH: Suspect caught crawling from Atlanta home after alleged copper wire theft

ATLANTA — Police have released video showing the arrest of a man accused of stealing copper wire from a southwest Atlanta home.

Around 7:40 a.m. on Aug. 15, Atlanta police responded to a burglary in progress at a home on Beecher Street SW.

The victim told 911 dispatchers they were watching surveillance cameras and saw an unknown man break into a crawl space and actively steal copper wire from the property.

When officers arrived, they found the suspect at the scene. Police said the man ran, leading officers on a brief foot chase before he was taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as Travis Taylor, 44.

Taylor is charged with first-degree burglary, possession of tools for the commission of a crime and obstruction.

He was booked into the Fulton County Jail.
