ATLANTA — Even though these police recruits aren’t officially sworn officers, that didn’t stop them from answering the call to protect and serve.

Atlanta police recruits Boursiquot, De Forest, and Hill were leaving Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q on Aug. 12.
A mother told them her non-verbal son with special needs was locked inside her car.
The police recruits immediately jumped into action to help rescue the child.

With permission from their supervisor, the future officers used their new batons to break the car’s window to get the child out of the locked car.
The child was checked out by medical responders, who determined that he was in good health. He was reunited with his mother.

The department said that although the recruits haven’t taken their oath or have been officially sworn in, they was proud of the future officers’ actions and looked forward to them hitting the streets.
