Trump, Biden both in Georgia today last-minute push for Senate runoff

ATLANTA — We’re about 24 hours from the Senate runoff election here in Georgia -- and the nation’s attention remains fixated on the Peach State.

Both President Trump and President-elect Biden will visit the state Monday in a last-minute effort to draw votes for their respected party.

We’ll have LIVE coverage of the visits throughout the day on Channel 2 Action News

Beginning at 4:30 p.m., Biden is scheduled to campaign in Atlanta in support of Democrats Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

The fact that both of them are coming to Georgia on the eve of the runoff highlights just how important this race is for both sides.

Then tonight, Trump is scheduled to hold a rally at 7 p.m. in Dalton for Republican senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. It’s an area of the state that has had a lower turnout in early voting. So there’s going to be a focus on getting their supporters to the polls Tuesday.

And that’s not all. Vice President Mike Pence will also be in Georgia today. At noon, he will hold a rally in the city of Milner in Lamar County.

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris campaigned in Savannah Sunday.

More than three million people have voted early. Those are historic numbers for a runoff election in Georgia. More than the total vote record of 2.1 million voters in the Senate runoff in 2008.
