ATLANTA — One man is dead, and two women are hospitalized following a shooting at an apartment in Northwest Atlanta.

Authorities say officers responded to a home at 340 Dixie Hills Cir. NW at 7:17 p.m. on Tuesday.

When they arrived, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound.

Two female victims, who had also been shot, were alert, conscious, and breathing and were transported to a local hospital.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum shared that a preliminary investigation indicated the shooting stemmed from domestic violence.

“When police arrived, they found two women. One aged 20 and one aged 25 had been injured by gunfire. We also found one male inside the home who would pass away shortly here on scene,” Schierbaum said.

Authorities say the murder suspect was detained while traveling along I-85 through Coweta County, after the Georgia State Patrol performed a traffic stop.

“He will be held accountable for the lives he took tonight, we believe, and the lives that he altered,” Schierbaum said.
