ATLANTA — Heavy rain that moved through Monday caused dangerous conditions on roads and interstates -- and it is only get worse as freezing temperatures move in overnight.

With temperatures expected to drop into the 20s overnight, any rain that’s left on the road could become black ice.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz says the temperatures will drop below freezing starting around 1 a.m. in west Georgia and a few hours later for metro Atlanta. Patchy black ice is possible on all roadways but bridges and overpasses will freeze first.

Governor Brian Kemp has delayed the opening of all state offices for two hours Tuesday due to potential inclement weather.

Kemp has also encouraged all school systems to monitor the situation closely and make decisions on any potential closures.
